PyViz – Overview of the Python visualization landscape (pyviz.org)
The Python visualization landscape can seem daunting at first. These overviews attempt to shine light on common patterns and use cases, comparing or discussing multiple plotting libraries. Note that some of the projects discussed in the overviews are no longer maintained, so be sure to check the list of dormant projects before choosing that library.

Ask HN: Dense Tree Layout Algorithms (ycombinator.com)
I recently bought a poster which features a really beautiful rendering of a phylogenetic tree of the world's bird families (a rooted binary tree).<p>https://lynxnaturebooks.com/product/orders-and-families-of-the-birds-of-the-world-poster/<p>I am sure it was carefully designed by hand. What algorithms could automatically generate a layout like this? The graphviz layout algorithms are poorly suited to the problem because they cannot seem to avoid edge/node coincidence beyond a certain node density.

Show HN: Movie Iris - Visualizing Films Through Color Extraction (github.com/LoSinCos)
The Movie Iris project was something that I started working on during quarantine. I saw some cool visualizations on Reddit's r/dataisbeautiful and was inspired to start working on the project. Some other users had already done something like this - and I wanted to try my hand at is as well. This repo is my take on turning movies into still art. Effectively taking raw movie frames, compressing them to their core colors, and visualizing the color schemes of a movie.
